The science behind evali is well-grounded in empirical research. Our personality assessment is built on the well-established Five-Factor Model. In addition, we offer you a valuable sixth factor, measuring characteristics related to humility and prosocial behaviors. That one is a great help in assessing successful leadership behaviors and predicting psychological safety in teams.
In total, we measure Social style, Working style, Emotional stability, Extraversion, Integrity, and Openness to Experience. Each of these factors consists of a number of more specific characteristics, offering a nuanced understanding of your candidates.
evali is developed by a team of researchers and practitioners directed by Sara Trané, Ph.D. in I/O Psychology.

In evali, we have combined two models measuring personality: the Five-Factor Model and the Hexaco Model. Both of the two models are well-grounded in science.
Evali is primarily built upon the Five-Factor model which is the most established model for measuring personality. It is also the model on which there is most research. In other words, evali give you insights of the same quality as other assessments built on that model.
The Hexaco Model is a model that to a large extent is overlapping with the five-factor model, but it does also have a sixth factor that measures characteristics related to integrity (Honesty-Humility). We have chosen to add integrity as an additional factor to our test. This means that you among other things get more information and better can predict both dysfunctional and team-oriented behaviors without reducing the validity of the five-factor model.
When we measure Integrity and above all Humility (through the sixth factor), we can help you find the best leaders. For example, we know from research that Humility is an important characteristic that predicts prosocial behaviors such as honesty, fairness, egalitarianism, and avoidance of greed. It is through the sixth factor that evali can help in finding humble leaders – who are the really successful ones.
Through measuring Humility, we can also find the destructive and psychopathic sides of a personality. They happen to be on the other end of the Humility scale. Individuals with extremely low scores on Humility have a larger risk of showing negative behaviors in the workplace. It’s those behaviors that are commonly known as “the dark triad” – Psychopathy, Narcissism, and Machiavellianism. These behaviors are to some extent possible to find through a low score on Agreeableness in the Five-Factor Model. However, it does not predict them to the same extent as the Humility Factor from the Hexaco model.
A common argument against the Hexaco Model is that it becomes too complex when dividing a personality into more than five dimensions. We do of course agree that six factors are more complex than five, it’s simple math. Remember though that personality isn’t something that you easily mash into a four-box model. It’s a complex subject from start.
The sixth factor in evali adds, as we’ve seen above, a large extra value. Through the science in evali, together with the professionalism of the recruiter, we are confident that it is possible to use six factors. The most important for us is that we have added Integrity to the established five-factor model in a way that does not affect the original model’s validity. Instead, it rather adds validity! As we said from the beginning, we want you to eat the cake and still have it!
